I am a SAHM with two boys. DS1 is 2 1/2 and DS2 is 1 and I am pregnant (planned). I'm currently trying to study to do my PGCE but just finding it impossible. I struggling to stay motiivated and just want to throw in the towel. DH is really supportive and I don't want appear to be a loser but.....hmmm. What you think?

Hi there, how much have you got left to do?I completed mine when pg with ds 1 and was working full time and HATED it by the end!!!I can't imagine doing it with 2 small ones and one on the way, hats off to you.

If you can I would try to complete it as it would be a shame to stop, when you have probably worked hard to do what you have done so far.Much sympathy. Can you get an extension or something?

Hang in there - a PGCE is something you'll be able to use when you decide it's time to work again. Can you take maternity leave from the course?

I can take maternity leave and will have to do so net year. It's the level of work and maintaining the motivation.

Just wanted to add some encouragement. I'm a SAHM with 2 DS, eldest is 3 and the youngest is 18 mths and I'm trying to finish writing up a PhD. I adore my boys so much and am so pleased that I am at home bringing them up and enjoying it, but by the end of a long day and then getting dinner and them in bed, by around 8-8.30 pm its just so hard to turn around and start work especially as the boys are up and down every night, my youngest is a terror at sleeping. You are not a loser, you are raising 2 children and offering them all your love and pregnant! this is'nt 9-5 its 24-7.
The only way I am getting through this is by breaking it down into very small chunks and by being brutally honest with myself and the university and tutors etc. I think you'll find much more support for you there than you might expect. That you've committed so much whilst bringing up 2 little ones just shows of the overwhelming energy and drive you have, and that you are someone who is certainly not afraid of a challenge.

I've often thought about chucking it all in but I know in a few years time when the boys are at school and I want to start doing some work I'll regret not finishing this, I've worked too bl**dy hard on the thing to give it up. You have to do what is ultimately best for you and your family, I hope you finish it though..xxxxxxxx

I am near the end of year one of my PGCE, just got to complete the dreaded summer school. I too work and have a two year old.
Its such a great qualification to have, plus the standards are changing from this September so stick with it. Like others have said just keep thinking about the future, i think you would really regret it if you gave it up.

Good luck!

Nearly two weeks on, I am most definitely sinking. I probably will regret quitting but I am just too far behind and have sooo much to do. I'm tired and think that I should endeavour to the course when the children are a little older
