Review of Tuition Fees

I hear that the government is to launch a review of tuition fees - presumably in response to Labour’s plan to abolish/reduce them.

At the last election my DC voted Labour because they believed -mistakenly it appears- that a Labour government would waive fees already incurred.

Does anyone believe that either party will actually waive fees already paid? Is anyone considering paying fees upfront from own funds making a mistake?

@lostin - I tend to agree. But they were not the only ones. Smile

Seems to me it is more difficult now for people to go to uni if they are from poorer families but are academically able. I went in the 80s on a full grant with housing benefit because my parents couldn't afford it. Would now be prohibitive for anyone in the position they were .

It's only less elitist now because there are more places for people who don't get top grades.

lostin many more people from poorer families going now. Scotland has no fees and a significantly lower proportion of poorer students. Fees are the best way to allow poorer students into university.
