Do you get better offers if you apply earlier?

DC panicking about getting to as many open days as possible this month to get their UCAS application in at the start of next month. This is causing some strain financially!

Any admissions tutors around?? or parents or students with any experience or insight?

I'd do what ever I can to give my children the best possible chance, but am looking at taking out a loan, and not sure if it is actually helpful to apply this early anyway.

(And my son hasn't been to Bristol since his sister who went there 14 years ago went there... and he is starting there on Saturday! He has done no university visits at all. You can see on youtube what places are like and the open day information is all available on line. )

Oldie2017 My DD2 went to Bristol having not visited before applying (although we took a visit with her once she had accepted her place). She is going back on Saturday too - into her 2nd year. She absolutely loves it and had a blast in first year. It seems like a great student city.

My seven DC did no visits either, other than a single one with school. It's much easier to see places and read the admissions bumph on line and much cheaper too with no logistics to think about if the places they like are miles from home.
