Access course (law)

Evening all!

So I'm a 26 year old Mum of 1! He's 18 months old at the moment but I'm literally a week away from potentially being a full time student. I had an unconditional offer to start an access to law course but between my interview and now I started a full time job, obviously the tables have turned and I now absolutely regret the choice I made so the college is deciding by Tuesday wether or not I can do this course. It will mean giving up my job, but I'm happy at the prospect of studying law and criminology next year at university and then once completed, doing a masters in counter terrorism. It's my dream and I obviously want to show my little one that you can do anything that you want to in life.
I guess I know it will be hard without a full wage coming in but can someone give me any pointers on what bursaries or grants I'd get etc? My partner unfortunately cannot work at the moment due to ill health so he receives ESA (support group).

Also hearing some success stories from other parents would be a massive boost too :)

How many years will it take and what will you do at the end? How will you support yourselves on zero income?
My local police fir email recruits civilians straight into admin roles in counter terrorism could you consider that?

I study around work with the OU - there is still just under a week left to enrol if that's something you would consider? Because it's part time the only help routinely available is tuition fee loans from student finance, you aren't entitled to a maintenance loan. There are hardship funds but I've never fully looked into them as I don't qualify and can work part time around it which covers me financially when combined with tax credits.

Studying somewhere local means you'd have to speak to their admissions team about any help available as, from my understanding, it varies from institution to institution.

I loved my Access to Law course! I finished in June with distinctions and am now at university studying law. Whilst I was doing my Access course I was only in college three days a week so I managed to work part time as a home care worker
