Ive spent the last few years playing with the idea of going to uni.. the thing thats holding me back is being a single mum to DS who is 3, how would I manage uni and a child? how would I be able to pay the rent & all my other bills?

Anyone have any experiences?

You need to talk to the Universities you are interested in. It varies from place to place, ask about child care, accommodation, finance and financial aid and any other support.

I did open university. I remember my dad going to university when I was little. It's possible, but hard work.

I'm a single parent of a preschooler starting a degree this year. I also studied a full time HNC last year, If you have any questions?

I'm now doing second year, I have 4 children aged 4-18. Luckily I have support from them. But it us still manageable as I know a few other single parent students saying it a lot easier and simpler than expected.

Depending on your study if contact time with lectures/seminars can range from 9-16 hours. Mine is 2 days, I have timetable changed to cover two days instead of 4 or 5. The universities are very supportive (mine are) in making your study time and attendance as convenient for you as possible

Check out the student finance England website, which explains financial aid available in loans, grants etc. Also help with childcare
