Masters advice

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on how useful a Masters degree is as a teacher? Also if you have completed one, what was it like difficulty wise? During my degree I juggled 2 jobs, children (one with additional needs) and general life/household duties. This combined with mitigating circumstances just before my final submission date meant that I just missed out on a 2:1 and gained a 2:2 as it was only based on final year grades. I want to check I am not going to fail massively and I'm being unrealistic on what I can achieve. Life is more settled and I have quit one job so things are easier now. I want to be able to at least get the 40 mark to pass.

I have found a MEd course I would really love to study in a subject that I have a keen interest in but aside from personal interest, I wondered if it's viewed as worth having or not particularly that important?

I have always wanted to be a teacher and I have been working as an LSA for 5 years whilst I have studied. I have a BA (hons) in education and due to personal circumstances I have decided that it would be best to do my teacher training in about 3 years time or later but want to do something in the meantime. The course is in Autism and in an educational context which is relevant to my current role and I hope to remain in special education. It also may help if I later decide on a career change such as an Autism advisory teacher role if I ever want to leave teaching. My current workplace said it was worthwhile as when I am a teacher I would get 2 SEN points on the pay scale.

Also sorry about the quality of writing, I have a new phone which has a mind of it's own (still coming to grips) with it and was a quick post between chores.

I've no idea how useful it would be career wise but I imagine that it would mean a lot to you personally. Even though a 2:2 is still an achievement especially when you have DC I can see that you might like to 'bettter' it with a decent masters.

I don't know how old your are and whether doing a Masters would be a financial/time/childcare etc burden?

You may well be working until your are nearly 70 so another year of in education seems inconsequential....
