Just that.

DC flies off to US mid August but either needs to be signed up to the US university's mandatory health insurance scheme or seek a waiver and prove an adequate alternative policy is in place The US scheme equates to two payments of $1270 so $2540 total.

We've seen specialist UK products that cover backpackers and offer students abroad worldwide travel and medical coverage from under £500. Anyone got relevant experience?
Will be coming home December and then going back Jan- May.

Got through in about 1 hr 15 mins but all those with visas were seen at end and made wait. He will be fine with 5 hours I would think.

How did your son and daughter get on with their year abroad. I am now in the thick of it trying to work it all out. Daughter had to pay medical insurance for her uni in Canada but we don't know what insurance to get for travelling back and forth and for time during uni holidays exploring Canada.

Mine ended up getting two lots of backpacker style insurance - one to cover August-Dec and the other from Jan-June. This also insured laptop and mobile. From memory it was about £200 each time. Never claimed but was covered for weekend trips and and longer breaks to places away from campus.
