Silly question... do I need A Levels if I already have a degree?!

So I'm thinking of doing either another BSc, this time in Social Work (already have a social sciencey 2:1 from 2012).

Strict entrance criteria stipulates A Levels, BTecs etc - do I just ignore these as I've already got a degree Confused

Maybe if I can't figure this out for myself it means I'm not smart enough for another degree Grin

Why don't you do the Masters if you want to be a social worker? I think it's still funded, though might be wrong on that?

Just do a masters conversion no need to do a whole degree

Usually, qualifications that are over 5 years old don't count any longer, and they need evidence of recent studying. I was supposed to go back to university last September, and despite having already obtained a-levels and a degree, I still had to do an access course in a relevant subject, because my degree was from 2009. It's very frustrating!

If you already have a degree, you might also want to consider doing a social work qualification via Frontline.

The only way you can find the answer to this is to contact Admissions for the courses you are interested in (there should be an email address on websites) and ask. Most courses will have particular arrangements for mature student entry but what they are will depend on the nature and demand of the course. You don' t need to figure it out for yourself - admissions staff will be only too pleased to help you!

My DB had to go and sit an exam for GCSE maths despite having a Degree a Masters and a PHd...so i guess it's possible you might need it, but probably a masters conversion would be easier?

igivein · 19/06/2017 12:56

You might need to do a Masters to be able to access funding - you can't normally get funding for an equivalent level qualification, so you wouldn't get funding for another undergrad degree.

Oh crikey- it may be harder than I imagined then!

Thanks for all the advice Smile I'll be sending a few emails tommorow Grin
