Doing a PGCE (Primary) after a BA

I'm partway through my undergraduate degree and have decided I want to train as a primary school teacher when I graduate. I now have hundreds of questions buzzing in my head, so I'd really appreciate any knowledge/advice anyone could offer.

The main thing I'm worried about is funding... I think I've gathered I'll only get a bursary (£3,000) for primary teaching if I graduate with a first. Fine.

I'm confused by tuition fees/loan situation, however. I've read that PGCEs are treated as undergraduate degrees WRT student finance, so I'll still be eligible for tuition fee loans/maintenance loan? Is this info correct, and up to date?

Sorry if I sound horribly ignorant about all of this. I'm just trying to work out whether my plans are financially viable, before I start seriously planning and looking forward to it all...

If all goes to plan, I will hopefully be starting the PCGE in Sept 2018, by the way.

TIA

This from student finance England (could be different rules if you are in another part of the UK,) says you are eligible for a loan if you have an undergraduate degree but are enrolling on an initial teacher training programme. I assume but could well be wrong that means something that give you qts which the pgce would.

Thanks for your reply, veg. I'll have a good read of that link you sent.

Worth checking if your subject speciality is a shortage category. My tuition fees were covered and I got a bursary when I did my PGCE secondary in 2000/01.
