Minimum student maintenance loan - do we need to give evidence of income?

Hi,
If we know that DS will only qualify for the minimum maintenance loan for uni, do we still have to provide evidence of income?
Thank you!

No you don't. Your DS just fills in his details and applies for fees and minimum loan

Ocies · 07/05/2017 11:43

No - we have done exactly that. We know dd will only get the minimum so have not declared anything - it makes the whole process much easier!

Great. Many thanks for your replies.

Nope, ds filled in form by himself last Tuesday and got confirmation of his fee status by post yesterday!. - min loan of £5191 ( Welsh student going to Uni in Scotland)

Same situation here. DD applied for and got minimum maintenance loan with no interfering from me. Good thing too as DH was all arsey about disclosing his income......

Thanks, I appreciate your replies. Just need to nag encourage lazy and totally disorganized DC to apply before the deadline. Grin

Seconding how straightforward it is. DS completed his application (£5479 minimum as studying in London) Applied on 27 April and received the confirmation letter on 3 May so very quick. You'll also get the declaration form for your DC to sign and return but you can also download the form and send it off.

Thanks Pipkin and everyone. Star

And even if you don't get it done before the deadline you can still appeal and get it back dated (don't advise this) but it is ok.
