2 year foundation degree - what level qualification?

My dc in 2nd year, and considering changing direction. Will have a foundation degree at end of 2nd year, but thinking about not doing 3rd year which would be the full BA. (Performing arts-related, so entered course by audition and not via UCAS).

What qualification is a foundation degree - is it a level 5 or 6 or something else?

Not very good at understanding all of this or what options there will be, and it has come as a bit of a shock to us!

I may be wrong here but I'm pretty sure she won't be able to claim a BA at all without A Levels. I have a friend who went to London Studio Centre aged 16 and did the 3 yr BA course but isn't able to claim the BA because she went when she did. I would check that out.

There are several colleges who accept 16 year olds onto their courses & students get a full degree at the end of it. Off the top of my head RCS, Ballet West & Central are three such institutions.

EvilTwins - yes she can get the degree where she is studying - friends have already graduated. I can't go into any more detail really, but it is definitely a BA.

Also Rambert.

I know students currently studying at these institutions so can confirm what Yamadori says.

Thank you everyone, I think I need to stop posting now - possibly too identifying.

I hope it all turns out well in the end for her.
