My DD wants to apply at Cambridge for Natural Science and she is doing maths, further maths and physics for A level. She wants to do physical science. Does she need chemistry for this course ?

Sorry to jump in and not read all of the above. I did a science subject at Oxford with not so obvious a levels. I contacted the tutors and asked would it be suitable. I also half based my choice of college on places to application ratio! What ever she decides please make sure she likes the college and the course. It's a unique experience and some quit because the courses are not what they wanted and were too focused on the Oxbridge bit. Good luck though, I had a great time.

I saw this thread a few months ago and it thoroughly freaked me out as I am currently studying maths further maths and physics having applied to natural sciences at Cambridge. I have created this account for the sole purpose of saying it is perfectly possible to get an offer for physical natural sciences without A level chemistry as I have just done so, receiving my offer earlier this morning. Although I would agree it is perhaps beneficial to study A level chemistry, and if given the chance I would've, it is not neccessary. I'm just posting this here to warn any other people who may read this thread in the future who are in a similar position to me.

That is all I have to say.

@naturalsciences - well done on your offer and thanks for the information. Good luck and I hope you make it to Cambridge. In my day (30 years ago) your A levels weren’t unusual for NatScis who were aiming to do Part II Physics. I wonder if things changed when four A levels became common and are changing back now doing four A levels is less common.
