Insomnia / upset - How to help

Not entirely sure how to proceed.

DD has stopped sleeping and finding it difficult to concentrate on university work. One friend in her wider friendship group has taken own life and dd is really upset. Sad

Knock on effect for dd has been extreme insomnia and difficulty concentrating. She is keeping her grades up, attending all lectures (on NO sleep!) and has got good marks in exams but is struggling.

Any advice for insomnia?

Had lunch with dd and all going well. She has seen the doctor and received pretty much the same advice as you have so kindly given.

She is keeping her tutor informed about everything and getting very good support. Good result in that last exam. Next exams after Easter I think.

She has started a gym membership and is getting advice on exercise. Sleep is still a bit on and off but she seems happy / goes to societies with friends. I handed over some Nytol and told her to use it sparingly to re-set her body clock.
