UCAS form question

DS1 has just sent his form off.

Being very new to this, I was wondering when/if he will receive offers?

Some parents on here we're talking of very recent offers being made.

Are the majority of offers made after the A2 results?

Tia

TSR is useful but it's a bit like MN in that it can seem as though anything else other than Oxbridge and a top RG Uni is a failure. It very much depends on the threads. It's a bit troll'y too. us MN'ers should feel right at home

Fortunately there is lots of excellent advice and information their too.

Oh TSR is hilarious in parts. I can get quite sidetracked there. It is terrible for stealth-boasting Grin

Thanks all for great advice Smile

The latest is that he's got an interview for Loughborough and Imperial have just acknowledged his application.

Fabulous. Does that feel better?

The first actual offer is a bit of a relief moment too Smile

DD got her Oxford offer just before Christmas. A lot of this depends on the number of applicants and therefore how oversubscribed the subject is. Other universities sometimes offer quite quickly to Oxbridge candidates because they have received the application in mid October. Presumably they know who they want from that tranche of candidates.

For candidates who have applied to Imperial, it is highly likely other universities will be interested so just sit back and wait. Not everywhere will interview.

We felt it was better to keep away from chat rooms. Nothing on them will help DC get an offer! They will just either confirm your DC's position, (waiting) or make DC feel depressed because everyone has offers and they don't! Don't phone up the university. Have faith in your DS's ability. Perhaps preparing for his interview will keep him busy.

That depends Milly. Some students (and lurking parents) find the information and camaraderie reassuring. Different characters have different preferences.

Equally, very specific little niggles and queries crop up that fora can help with. For example, there was a situation recently where some Oxford colleges had posted online that all interviews for x subject had now been offered, but in fact a proportion of students had not (yet) been sent either 'sorry' or 'we are pleased to invite you' emails. The oversight was unnerving and a huddle of them were on TSR trying to find out if they were the only ones. They weren't and subsequently at least some of them received their invitations to interview. I can't see that the TSR played a negative role there; Quite the opposite (although it's a big variable site).

strawberry yes that feels much better!

milly'how do you suggest he prepares for interview? I have no idea what they will ask! Is there any information online to help with this?
