Experience with " near miss grades " for uni, advice on what to do?

OK long story short, DD pretty sure she won't make AAA offer possibilities more likely be AAB or AAB, her condition didn't include equivalents. If on results day she gets rejected with those grades but the B is close to an A is it worth ringing up the uni to ask them to reconsider or maybe go for remark? Any success stories ? DD offer isn't from Oxbridge or top 5 uni. Any advice is appreciated, might be of help to others who may be of a similar dilemma.

Shock 3 ums that's too crazy. Sad ...but she still has done incredibly well. I bet she will love her insurance though and will be telling you how it all worked out for the best in no time at all.

Bagpuss, so sorry your daughter's remark did not change, i have been watching with fingers crossed. It seems so unfair when she is actually over the points with her grades. the same has happened to one of DD's friends, she has now adjusted/cleared to an equally good uni and i am sure that she will love it.
Dechohate, my dd's friend is going to Leeds for medicine, she is a lovely bright, funny and kind girl, so she will have some lovely people in her group.

DD is waiting on a A2 French Oral remark, not sure how long that it will take, or how they do it! Does seem to be taking forever.

myevennewwer & lalamum thanks for the support, I will keep the hope alive for your DD lala, fingers crossed you will get some positive news. The waiting is the worst bit sometimes. Would rather be put out of my misery sooner than later.
DD is a alot less glum now, she accepts she was unlucky and believes it wasn't because she wasn't good enough. Which I've been telling her, these kind of things have a ugly way of messing with their heads. Shes joined her insurance uni FB fresher's page and found some fellow rejectees from the same uni?? They have something in common to talk aboutConfused good ice breaker conversationSmile.

Has she put one final call into firm - to say final remark situation - something might have happened that they have a place - can she say that she is ready to accept at any point? IE sit on waiting list

13 months Dd emailed her final remarks to her firm uni. When she got them. They came back with a "sorry...."
They just won't accept a " B grade " 2 raw marks or 3 ums off an A Sad even though she has 2 A* It would have been nice if they could have given a clearer explanation to why dd was rejected, than the generic " there was some very strong candidates this year" so to speak. She does feel slightly hard done by, it's understandable. Hopefully in time it will make her stronger person. There will be plenty more knock backs when the time comes round for getting jobs, so I guess this will be a valuable learning curve. DD is geared to move to her insurance now, halls aswell yipee!!
