Unconditional offers - received one?

Has your yr13 dc received an unconditional offer this year?
If so:

  • What uni
  • What course
  • Was it dependant on them choosing as their firm offer?
  • Have they accepted it?

Feel free to PM me, if you prefer.

Many thanks

Thanks mrsdoyle - I really hope they've not messed her around - she's had a hard 5-6 yrs and I've been really proud of the way she's pulled this all together. Fingers crossed.

Catsrus - fingers crossed for your DD.
There is a 7 day cooling off period I think so your DD can still add an insurance choice.

their screw up, was supposed to be conditional - she's totally deflated, waiting to hear what happens next Angry. The thing is - if it had come through as conditional to start with she was prepared for that - of course she's now shared the 'good news' with all her friends Sad.

MrsDoylesCupOfTea · 01/04/2015 11:58

Oh dear, that's awful for her Sad Hope she is ok. I wonder if it happened to lots of students. I could imagine some students wouldn't read the acceptance letter.

catsrus · 01/04/2015 12:32

Whatever happens it's a blow to her confidence, from thinking they wanted her "no matter what" to only if she gets the top marks possible Sad. this doesn't tally with her experience of the interview or what was said to her unofficially at that time by the person doing the interviewing. She's a mature student anyway (already in her 20's) so really bit the bullet to go back and do any FE. I'm so angry I could happily tear a strip off someone. The UCAS systems should be set up in such a way that it is NOT POSSIBLE for this to happen, it should NOT be possible to give an unconditional offer with exam conditions attached. It would not be rocket science to code that.

OK - breathing again. They've now spoken to the academics involved who say they really liked her are happy to keep the unconditional but would like her to complete the course she's doing and not drop out, so she's happy - she had no intention of dropping out, she's keen to do really well. Phew.

Grin Wow, That's amazing news. What a huge relief. I really felt so sorry for your DD. I was feeling all angry on your behalf.
