waiting to hear from Edinburgh?

I know it's early yet but I am getting stressed with all this waiting on behalf of my DS. He has other offers but has his heart set on Edinburgh. Wish they'd hurry up!

Just bumping - DD still waiting to hear - anyone else?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/03/2015 08:32

It's not personal, Molio. It's just standard wording of the type you'll find on any university offer letter. There will be wording like that on English university offers too, saying something about fee status - in their case the important thing is clarifying whether an applicant qualifies as a home/EU applicant or not.

RandomFriend · 21/03/2015 09:53

Still waiting here as well. We are in the EU, so we should get "home" status but we are not in Scotland.

Right at the start, back in October, DD received a letter that mentioned "probably March and possibly May" as when she would hear.

She is a strong candidate. I expect that they will wait until May to see if they have filled up their home quota, and if they haven't, then offer her a place.

If it looks like they have enough home students, she'll get a rejection. I just hope it doesn't come in the middle of exams.

The wait ended last night. No offer for DS but he is delighted that he can firm what has been his 1st choice from the start.

StayingSamVimesGirl · 24/03/2015 10:45

Ds2 is just finishing his second year at Edinburgh, and loves it!

horsemadmom · 24/03/2015 10:50

DS liked the uni but the course was not EXACTLY what he wanted. His firm choice ticks all his boxes. All's well that ends well.

DD has been accepted at Edinburgh Grin now all the anxious waiting is over and all the tears of happiness and relief have been dried and ive drank plenty of Wine reality is setting in, she is going hundreds of miles away and ive never done this before, anyone one else with dcs off to Edinburgh ?

xavierfondue · 14/08/2015 14:04

She'll be fine.

Congratulations.

Am so jealous. I wanted to go there. She should get joining instructions and a plan for fresher's week - they do look after them, but try and encourage her not to drink too much!

You should google "53 reasons to live in Edinburgh".

brainwashed · 14/08/2015 16:30

Has she got accommodation sorted heronsfly ?

Thanks all Grin we are calming down a bit now, and its sinking in that whilst all the waiting and wondering is over, a new and slightly scary adventure lies ahead.
Xaver. I have been doing the 'try to be a little bit sensible' talk re drinking, up until now she has been reasonably good with alcohol, but she has a new found liking for Disaronno and cranberry juice ! that, added to freshers week makes me think my words are falling on deaf ears Grin.

Cdtay I have watched the 53 reasons, thanks for the link, the whole place looks amazing.
Brainwashed. Yes accommodation has come through she has got a single room in a 6 person flat in Murano, wasent one of her choices but looks lovely as much as student accommodation can anyway

brainwashed · 16/08/2015 12:49

heronsfly my DS didn't get any of his choices for accommodation either...but is eventually happy with his allocation.
Edinburgh is fab. Many years ago I travelled hundreds of miles to go to uni there. It's only now that I appreciate what my parents went through!
