Dd got her final rejection for a Musical Theatre degree yesterday.Sad
No university for her in September.
She is now rethinking that perhaps its not for her.

So its time to think about jobs with the possibility of applying for year after for different course.

Has anyone else's DC been in a similar position?

Eek! ds2 is still small, but wants to go to drama school - he knows the figures though & is already assuming he'll have to audition more than once. I agree with everyone about maybe trying again after getting more experience/working on weakest skill etc. Good luck! I think a lot of people do foundation courses now as well, although tbh I don't know much about them. No idea how they're funded either.

Saintly - am I remembering correctly...did your DS do YMT:UK last year? DD2 is auditioning on Sunday (assuming the line doesn't get cut at Paignton again, I'm not at home right now but apparently there's a storm going on (fingers crossed I can get back tomorrow)). I'm assuming she has no chance of getting in because so young...but then I remembered your DS is only a year older...

Aargh. Not Paignton. Dawlish. I've got Paington on the brain at the moment for boring reasons.

Hi gently - we may well see you at the audition - think we'll be there at the same time (same day anyway) :)

He did audition (he was year 7). He made the reserve list (which he was delighted with - they send out production/reserve/no letters). They ring with feedback and said his performance was very good but he was very young and they weren't sure how he would cope with being away and a production etc. He said his dance was absolutely rubbish though - he claims to have been embarrassingly useless at it ;) they did say that was his weakest skill (which is certainly is). So last summer he went on a skills course, which he absolutely loved, and he was cast as the lead on that & his group got a distinction in their grade 6 so they were all thrilled. So this year if he doesn't get a production he'll be going on another skills course, hopefully with some friends from last year. There are definitely more places on productions for the older ones - but the auditions are good practice, and ds2 absolutely loved the skills course, and learned loads I'd have no hesitation on sending him one again.

He's just finished a big professional show (his biggest part so far) so hopefully his voice will hold up for a few more days as he's been having to use it a lot the last few months.

Update....she was offered a place for a musical theatre degree yesterday! She'd assumed that because she hadnt heard back from one, and she felt she hadn't dine her best, that they'd rejected her.

So much celebration in our house.

Oh how lovely!
I am envious, DD doesn't start her auditions until mid-Feb & I'll be so stressed by then!
