Just wanted to know if anyone had been in the situation where both you and your partner have been in university. Both myself and my husband would like to apply for uni next year (neither of us had the opportunity when we were younger and don't want to regret it in the future). However we rely on our income & tax credits (we have 2 children) so I was hoping I could get some advice as to whether it would be financially possible?

Have a look at www.gov.uk/student-finance-calculator to get a rough idea. I guess it could be easier financially and essay crisis/child juggling-wise if you went one after the other? Good luck :)

Thank you. The problem is my husband is. Couple of years older than me and wants to go into teaching so it would make sense for him to go but teaching jobs in our area are few and far between. I want to do social work which has good job prospects at the end. It's a tough decision as I don't want either of us to look back in 20 years and regret not fulfilling our potential. :)

Check in case this has changed but students with children used to be able to claim benefits as long as they also took out the max student loan, so you should get HB, IS and CTC.

Been looking but it all seems to be from a single parent angle but I guess if we were both in uni we wouldn't have a income as such. Think we could still get child tax credits not sure what else. Lots more digging to be done I think.
