TOO OLD?

I'm 53, just completed an MA and it was suggested I applied for a (practice-led) PhD. I applied, for a part time one, and got accepted. Now what the do I do? I have two students and one schoolchild still at home, my garden is a mess and the fridge is already empty. Please can someone tell me to get a grip - either way. I honestly don't know what to do for the best. I don't need the PhD for work so this would purely be soul satisfaction. AM I mad?

That's brilliant, Hilda*. I've just been looking at the OU Grad Certs. I'm still not sure about going back to studying after 30 years. Are you doing a subject related to your original degree?

Vaguely , definitely some overlap , writing an essay has been tough ! I really wanted the class contact so wasn't so keen on the OU

I'd say go for it. It'll be alot of work, but you much know how much you can manage if you've just done an MA.

I'm working full time and doing an MBA part time (they reckon it needs 16 hours a week, but I'm actually doing closer to 12) and it can be really hard. But I love learning and I'm really enjoying it.

Whoops - sorry, missed that there was a second page. Congrats on going for it. I'm glad the essay went well.

Next week are my first exams in 2 decades... Hopefully if goes as well as your essay did.
