Before I had DS I was doing an HND course, I completed the first year, but had to stop about three quarters of the way through year two, so never completed it.

5 years later, I have been accepted onto an HNC course, in a completely different field.

I was chasing SAAS for an update on funding today and was informed that they wont pay my tuition fees because I have already completed an HNC. I said that I didn't have an
HNC, HNC doesn't appear on my SQA qualifications list, nor do I have a certificate for it. They said that I'd need to prove it, but that I'd need a letter from the college I attended and that I can't just send them my SQA stuff. Have left a message with the college but goodness knows when they will get back to me.

Does my first year of HND count as an HNC even though I don't have HNC on my qualifications? Can anyone help me with information or experience in something similar?

I feel a bit silly I have been out of sorts all day worrying about this and have cried but this was my ticket out of the horrible dead end job
I'm stuck in and a chance for me to start a good career to support my son and I. I'm going into my new college tomorrow and my lecturer should be around but Student advisors wont be there.

Normally of you leave an HND after year 1 you can get an HNC.

OK so you have contacted the college, they will get back to you and either say you are entitled to an HNC which you should claim or that you are not.

If you are not entitled to HNC then you can go back to your new course and get funding.

If you do have an HNC you can transfer some units, and yes I did read that it is a totally different subject. I only know this because a worked somewhere that closed down health and social care HND and transferred students who wanted to on to IT HND. This means that you would have to fund part of your first year and also that you might access hardship funds.
