Anyone studied a Masters by distance Learning?

My preferred MA course if offered by distance learning by what happens to be a local university. It is not offered by any other method.

Has anyone studied via distance learning for an MA? How did you find it?

I am doing one now ;)

MSc though not Ma. Actually I almost prefer it to taught. I learn better by reading than I do listening in lectures so it suits me. A bit isolated at times but overall OK.

Thank you. Its interesting what you say about preferring to read rather than be spoken to, this is how I prefer to learn so I am hoping that the course will be okay for me.

Do you find it hard to keep motivated?

I've just finished a MA with the OU in English and loved it. It can be rather a rather isolating experience but we had an odd day school and some tutorials. There were also on-line forums and we set up our own face-book group. At this level, it is all about moving towards independent learning and your final thesis (at least in the arts) will be entirely researched by you so I have not found distance learning a problem.

Both my brother and sister are doing Masters by distance learning and both seem to be enjoying it. They can fit it in around their other commitments. They are both in their late 40s/early 50s so maybe its an easier fit for mature students?

Can I just stealth boast about my brother? This time last year he was picked off the streets days from death from alcoholism. He was taken in by the Salvation Army with whom he still lives, working as a counsellor to help others and doing a Masters in psychology. I am immensely proud of him and his return to a normal, life. Sorry for hijack!

How lovely demented. You must be so proud! Well done the Salvation Army, they do great work.
Just bookmarking as I have a science degree and would like to do a masters but can't afford to give up work.
