So where did your DS get a dinner suit for uni from?

We have tried Topman and Moss (Bros?). Does anyone have any other suggestions? We don't want to pay a fortune, but he has been told it will be useful to get one.
Thanks

Greyvix
DS's loved it there.
Bought DS2 his suit to go to his brothers graduation which he then took to Nottingham. Think it came home by Christmas with a rip in the front of the trousers (which our local dry cleaner mended remarkably well) which occurred when he fell over a wall after a drunken formal dinner.
Anyway the same suit went onto various interviews for jobs for which he got one and on to his own graduation.
I've just bought him his second ever suit for his birthday and ready to start work, although he says he will still wear his old suit for work too!

Oxford, you get many many 2nd hand dinner suits and ball gowns in second hand shops and charity shops.

A lot wait until the major balls (summer and winter) and display them then, you could phone and ask what sizes they have.

I have seen an old (?vintage) tail suit on a young man - looked fab.

"He seems to think he will need one. The uni is Nottingham."
DS1 was at Nottingham for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees - never needed a dinner suit (perhaps he didn't move in the right circles?)

Look at Nightingale pictures! Many black tie events! Depends on hall I think. OP if DS is Nightingale I think maybe revise what you think as he may be the only one in a lounge suit.

He is at Sherwood, which was also my brother's hall back in the day! I think we will play it by ear. I am glad that so many of your DCs went to Nottingham. Our experience of unis so far has been very limited: Exeter- several posh dos; Sussex- not a lot!

Depends on the Uni - I went to lots of formals at uni (as did my husband) so a dinner suit was a must. Have you a local tailor? You can sometimes pick up bargains on (unfinished) bespoke suits where the original customer has cancelled the order.

I texted DS last night to tell him to get a proper one (skinny, tall, droopy shoulders) as it's an investment. I paid £60 to hire one for his prom, so if he spends £300 on it, it will soon pay for itself (he does Army stuff so q a lot of formals as well as the Uni balls etc)
