Disappointed in results (my own!)

Title says it all - I submitted a piece of work for the "final year" of a distance learning degree module which I had spent a lot of blood, sweat, research and writing time on, submitted it to Dh's rigorous editing, sent it off on time,..................and the mark assigned is well, meh really - the comments back with it show the marker is really less than impressed.

This is the third module on which the results have been less than good, and I genuinely don't know what I can do to improve them. I've taken on board the markers comments from each of the previous modules, made sure specific concerns were addressed, read the questions and guidance carefully to make sure I'm not off on a tangent, but maybe I'm just not up to it academically.

I really love the subject material, archaeology, and tbh, once I'd finished the degree, had a dream of giving up my rl full time job, and finding something more in line with my interests..........but this studying is costing a fortune, and if at the end of it, I come out with a low 2ii, my chances of being employed to do anything remotely connected are zilch. So it's becoming less pleasurable and much more stressful.

Dh is supportive, but my self confidence is on the floor. How do I get my confidence / mojo back before I have to write my next module essays or my dissertation?

Sorry I hadn't realised it was A level results day.

Do you have a tutor you can talk to? I know it is distance learning but some courses link you up to a tutor you can meet with.

Speak to your tutor, ask why you got this grade and what would be expected to get the next grade up.

It is tough, but you can still make up the grade.

Is it Oxford? Just wondering as have done short courses with them and remember they do some degrees too.

If it's OU could you try broadening your degree a bit and taking a different module next, eg modern history, philosophy? Better to have that 2.1 than a 'pure' archaeology degree perhaps?

If you're not with OU now you could talk to them about credit transfer, you could then mix it up a bit as above. I've changed my mind about a couple of modules as I found I had a bit of a talent for something I hadn't considered before and was encouraged to pursue by OU tutor.

Oh and can you join/set up an online study group with other students on your course?

Not Oxford, Leicester.

Thanks for the ideas, much appreciated.
