Am I too old?

Im not sure where to post.
Im a single mum to 3 girls. I left school with no qualifications. Did my hairdressing level 2 and then had my children and have always worked around them and my soon to be ex husband.
Im now in a position where I can go back to work or study as my youngest starts school in sept. If I work its going to be something that I have always done, but dont enjoy.
Im wondering am I too old to become a beauty therapist? Im not accademic so cant study aything too intense. This I feel I would enjoy as Im very artstic.
Im 34 soon to be 35. Iv spoke to the college and they have said of course your not too old we have all ages on the course. This is fab but Im thinking more of the employment at the end of it. I do need to earn as I have a mortgage to pay. At the moment I have help with it. This is my opportunity to do something but worried Im too old??

Of course you're not too old ! Personally, I look for competence in a beauty therapist, not their age. At the moment, I'm having IPL on my legs and prefer the woman who is doing it to some young dolly bird. She is a forty something, slightly cuddly lady with children, who makes me feel normal where a twenty year old would make me feel huge and ancient. Go for it!

Yes, I agree. No-one wants their beauty therapies from someone who clearly doesn't need any Wink. And 35 is not old! 35 is a great age to redevelop your career, go for it.

Aw thanks both :)
This makes me feel quite positive. This is very true and Im hoping the employers see it this way too.
Thanks again :)

Definitely not too old. Ideal age really. You could be qualified before you are 40 and have your kids already so no need to factor in a baby break. Go for it!

Thanks molschambers :)
Ideal? Oh fab this is great to hear. I dont feel like Im gonna be the oldie that walks into that college so much now. Thats if I get in!

Apparently there is a darth of older beauty therapists to wax and tweek gay men. Heard this from someone in their 40s who retrained.

I'm 41 next month and have just finished the first year of my degree - loved it. You are never too old, I am not the oldest on my course! Best of luck.

Not at all! I'm 40 and starting a full time degree in September - I'll be 41. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll love it. :)
