Advice needed regarding sage 50??

I am considering doing a sage 50 course online. I have found it at a reduced rate of £60, this is for a limited time only.

I am not sure how much it usually is but the website I am looking at said it is nearly £500 normally. I have also found it as a part time course for 2days for £235. So I'm thinking £60 is really good.

My questions are:
1 - Do you think £60 is a good price?
2 - Has anyone else done sage 50 online? How did you find it?
3 - Do you think it would be better to do it online or in a college?

I have never done an online course before and I have not studied for quiet some time, so before I go ahead and pay for it I would love to get some advice. Smile

Not sure, but hopefully will bump for you. I learnt Sage Line 50 by using it in the office, not sure if you're learning it for work or to advance your career though?

I would be learing it to try to help me find work.

Often book keeping courses run at the local college will include SAGE 50 as part of the course. I studied the IAB (Int Assn of Bookkeepers) diploma at college and although I had used SAGE 50 before, I learned a lot. If you are not working, it may be possible to do a course either for free or very cheaply.

Do you have a background in bookeeping? Sage is great but isnt really a substitute for knowing why certain amounts of money are in particular accounts - particularly when reconciling VAT returns as I learned through bitter experience

I have not got any book keeping experience. My previous jobs have been in admin and sales jobs.

But i really want to get a part time admin job as i want to do a nvq level 3 in business admin so that i can become a college tutor. and i need to be working in order to do a nvq level 3.

Much better to get book-keeping skills. Sage 50 is an accounting programme and, if you do not know book-keeping you cannot use it properly.

I would find a book keeping course, SAGE 50 is quite easy to pick, when you understand basic accounting practices.

ok, great, thank you for the advice. I have found a short book keeping course, do you think that would be enough? Its only 12weeks part time.

fine if you are prepared to work outside lessons - need to ensure you lots of practice.

It would at least provide a taster, and would put you in a better position regarding job hunting.
