Hi all.
I started my family young - I was 19 when I had my daughter and had just finished college. I was pregnant during my final year at college so although I wanted to go to university, it wasn't a realistic option at the time.
Luckily I got some good college results and have done various courses over the 11 years since I left college (and had 2 more little people along the way!).
Now they are all at school and I'm finally getting some of my time back and am probably not going to have any more children so am beginning to think about maybe getting back onto the career path I originally intended on!
At the moment my partner and I both work - him full time and me part time. We get Child tax credits and child benefit but no other benefits.
I am thinking of doing a full time course but am worried about how we will be for money - I know that the tuition fees will be covered by the student loan but if i do a full time course will I still be able to apply for grants and bursaries to help towards the costs of living? Do tax credits still pay child tax credit if I am a student?
If anyone else has gone through similar please fill me in. It has been an ambition of mine to teach for 16 years now and at 30 I really want to get on and do this asap!
Thanks so much :)
