Student finance application - help!

I've posted this in "teenagers" too. We're in Wales, so the student finance body is slightly different from England, but I imagine it's the same principle..,

Anyway, DD1 is insisting that we need to fill in the "parental support" part of the application even though I know our income is over the amount where she would be entitled to a grant.

I don't think we need to do so. The FAQs and contact details go to a "page not found", so I can't find the answer on the official site (no doubt due to the deadline on 15 April and heavy traffic)

Can anyone help? DD is stressing about it! Tia

Yes you do because they ay offer her a bigger loan even if she doesn't get a grant.

We assumed our son would not get a grant but they take off your pension contributions, and any AVC's and also a set allowance per child you still get CB for, and our son did get one - not for much but every penny helps.

OTOH, we filled in the details, got confirmation that our son waasn't eligible for a grant or additional loan, but the loan company then asked for proof of our income Confused

We have now had to send them a letter saying we do not want our income taken into account and I fear we are doomed to wander cyberspace waiting for a reply Grin

I've just spoken to the helpline (managed to find the number online and hung on until someone picked up). He confirmed it didn't have to be filled in, or we could just put n/a in the boxes, which is what we'll do. The threshold is £50,886 and we would be well above that even with pensions etc.

thanks both.
