so today it was announced that everyone who is getting ema now will continue to receive it.
also there will be a bursary for over 16s in education of £1200 pa.
sounds good - did i hear everything?

not so generous for a start - looks like if you are on inc support you will get something but other low incomes will not.ds ok dd not.bah.

And the school/college heads are - subject to guidelines - going to allocate it to students.
Sorry ,but I don't trust that to be fairly administered in some schools .

Complete whitewash - available to students on free school meals only. What about those from low income families earning less than £16000, ie less than the free school meal income support eligibility level. These students have been let down very badly indeed. There arent enough part time weekend jobs to go round and travel is expensive.

It also appears that schools and colleges are going to be given a set sum to budget how they see fit as well. Once it's gone, it's gone type of thing rather than the general availability EMA had for the lower paid. On the whole, far less students will receive anything, yet it's heralded as a U turn. I don't think so.
