My friend's dd is off to Uni next year and is pretty sure she knows which one she wants to go to but my friend has this question and I don't know the answer.... anyone?

Need to know if accepts offer 1 ( N) of AAB does she automatically reject irrevocably offer 2( M) as that is AAA? she's dead set on N now and that's great but, I wondered if there was a possibility of keeping her option open when she has her results?

My friend has tried to sign up to MN but never got an activation email

thanks!

You can only firm 1 & reserve 1. If you make the grades for your 1st (firm) choice then that's where you go. If you change your mind you have to reject it on results day & go into clearing.

Only other way is for those who vastly exceed their predicted grades and can apply to "step" up to a higher Uni than they had offers for.

Let her choose the one she likes most if she has a chance of getting the grades.

The one she likes best is the one with lower grade requirements but my friend is worried that her Dd who is lovely and quite self depricating, may be saying she likes the one with the lower grades more, simply becauase she's scared she won't get the AAA needed for her other offer.
She had an Oxbridge interview and wasn't offered a place so her confidence has been dented.

I think that's exactly what my friend is asking mumofstudent! I'm so glad I have 2 years before I have to worry about this!

No, you can't. Your reserve place will do its calculations assuming if it's the second choice for x number of students, probably only a few of them will end up coming.

It sounds to me that he's not yet ready to make a decision - I think the deadline is still a few weeks away so I'd say do a visit to the two again in the Easter holidays and then think again (that's what we are doing!)

Hi
your friend might find this explanation from the student room helpful.

The deadline to accepting offers is link to when you heard from the last uni. The 5th May is the first deadline for a lot of students. The one you put as first choice will then be communication about accommodation.

studentfinanceengland can be an absolute nightmare - they are very slow.

Some of mine have put a lower offer as first and the higher offer insurance as they prefer the first choice course. A nonsence - it means that they will not get into the insurance course. If you meet the grades then you have to go to the first choice. If you do a lot better then you can go into Adjustment - which is basically looking for a better course/uni - it depends upon spaces of course and like Clearing not all uni will enter this.

I am very surprised that the child in question has not been taken through this by her Sixth Form tutor or Head of Year.
