I want to do something to keep my mind active, but it needs to be very flexible. Can't be OU as I owe them money (I am paying it off, so should be able to study with them again soon).

I'm thinking an A Level would be good, but there are so many colleges and a lot of them look a bit unprofessional. Also you have to pay exam fees on top but they don't tell you how much they are - if you have to pay the exam fees and find the exam centre anyway, what is the benefit of going through a college?

I'm sure there must be one - can anyone help?

Do you have a local Adult Education authority/centre? They usually have loads of different courses and qualifications you can do. I used to live in Westminster and the WEA was v.good, they even had creche places for some courses and flexible learning.

A class isn't flexible enough- it needs to be something I can literally do at whatever time I feel up to it. We have WEA and v good adult ed courses round here but I do think home study is the way to go atm. Plus they tend to be either basket weaving or basic skills. (there are some other courses, but again not really suited to my situation)

Will look into the other links. Thanks :)

They look interesting BUT there isn't any certificate or anything at the end, you just get it to learn. They seem to have sales on all the time though, and they are lectures by experts and teachers etc. (I have to say I haven't used them yet but am considering the anthroplogy course once I've finished my big move!)

Or there is always iTunes U, free podcasts on iTunes. Again no end exam or qualification but very interesting, from places like OU, Oxford, Harvard, ona whole range of subjects! I like listening just to learn stuff rather than to gain a certificate.

If you can't do OU because you owe them money, then I would suggest An economics CSE.
