I am working as a care assistant at the minute and I love it. I would love to be a nurse or midwife but cant afford to go to university full time.

Does anyone know if you can do nursing or midwifery through open university or part time at uni? And also can you do the diploma part time?

Thanks

I don't think so unless you are already qualified as a nurse, then you can do a short course of 18 months. Otherwise its 3 yrs full time. You might get a bursary to help.

You can do the course part time at some unis, i dont think OU would work though as you have to go on placements for practical experience

Have a look at the nhs bursary calculator though it may be more generous than you thinks

I haven't found anywhere that does midwifery part time, however I am only looking in a certain region... unfortunately.

i did my nursing at oxford brookes - there was the option of doing it part time. if you do a diploma you'll get a bursary - if degree you can get a student loan and maybe get a means tested grant.
