We phone our Household Insurers, and they confirmed ALL DD's stuff (except her bike) would be covered whilst she is in halls, at no extra cost to us! :)

(We did have to confirm any valuables, eg laptop, but there was no premium)

Yes, we also found our household insurance covered DC at uni. Very useful. We did have to top it up for the bike.

Agree with the posters saying our house insurance covered him, but also my son is insured whilst he is in halls this year as part of his accommodation cost.

We added DC1 to the household insurance last year and I have just checked re this year as he is moving out of halls into a house. Our insurers will still cover him on our insurance as long as he is at university, regardless of whether he is in halls or other accommodation. I would check with your own insurers first.

When I was in halls insurance was covered in my rent. When I was in a rented house, all the expensive stuff was covered on my mums house insurance. She just gave them a call to let them know that I was at uni and that was that - didn't affect premiums at all.
