I need a portable, very compact highchair substitute - anyone used Grobag or Totseat harnesses?

I have a totseat and I think it's great. Folds into a small back which I leave int he car so if I think I'll need it it's always with me. Adjusts for many styles of chair, infact I haven't found one it doesn't work on yet.

I have one similar to these. I have used it for all three children at one point or another. It is very good for the odd time when you are somewhere that has nothing (often when visiting someone), but it is not good for everyday use. The main problem with it is that it does not raise the child up to the level of the table. It only secures them to the chair. So for any kind of self feeding, it is not good.

I agree with IlanaK that they do not raise the child high enough and i wouldn't use it for everyday either. However, ds refuses to sit in the high chairs they have in many cafes/restaurants so it is easier to strap him to the chair. He is still young aswell so he doesn't need to reach the table yet.

I used a similar thing.
It was one of my best buys, it was great.

Considering getting one of these to bung in the suitcase when we go on holiday to Portugal. Not sure if there is a highchair in the villa and thought it might be good for restaurants too. Don't want to be feeding her on my knee for 2 weeks!

DD is teeny (2nd percentile) though, so I'm a little worried that even at 7.5 months, she'll be a bit small for one??

Very handy, particularly for the stage when DS had outgrown the pub/cafe highchairs, but wasn't quite ready for sitting on a proper chair.

Not much use for a blw 6-12 month old for instance as they can't reach the table.

We're doing purees and finger foods. Not too bothered about her not being at table height if it means I can fit it in the suitcase.

When did you use it? Don't most places have highchairs now?

wastingaway · 28/06/2010 09:14

At my Dad's on holiday last year, and a few times after he outgrew the pub highchairs.

I'd only use it if she was mostly sitting up on her own though.

She's sussed it this morning We've got 5 weeks till holiday, she'll be a pro.
