Do I really need an insert for an IKEA Antilop highchair?

I've just ordered an IKEA Antilop highchair online but, annoyingly, the inflatable insert isn't available to buy online. Have people found that they don't actually need it? DS3 is 6 months old. Or if the Antilop does need a little extra support for a small baby, has anyone found a good alternative to the IKEA insert?

Nah we bought one but it wasn't all that necessary, and it slipped about quite a bit. I wouldn't bother, just use a folded up towel behind them if really necessary.

none on ebay at the moment unfortunately. I think toys'r'us sell similar inserts that will probably fit - take the antilop seat part to the shop and have a go

you could just use a small cushion or similar if he needs a bit of propping

My DD was / is tiny so we find the insert useful but we also manage fine with a folded towel behind her.

I bought one and then my son was way too big for it! I think I may hae use one section inflated a the back a couple of times as he was not v good at sitting up straight at 6 months.

Another one here saying you don't need it; my 6 month old DGS manages fine with a rolled up blanket. And he loves sitting in it!
