Baby bouncer - help!

Hi all!

We are expecting our first baby in early February so I thought I’d start looking at baby bouncers.

I’ve been looking at the Joie Sansa 2in1 Bouncer, as it was recommended to me by a friend and is currently on offer in Boots. I like how it can be on the rocker or standalone, but have read mixed reviews as I’ve researched!

Then everyone (online, at least) seems to LOVE the BabyBjörn bouncer, but I don’t really get it? Is it really that amazing, as especially considering its high price point it looks quite basic? Am I missing something magical about it? If you have it please tell me your experiences!

Any recommendations or experiences would be really useful in helping us to make a decision, thank you in advance for your help!

The only time mine sat in their bouncer was in the morning when I was in the shower, I would sit them in the bouncer on the floor so they could be near me. Once they started to move and crawl they would climb straight out of it, they were masters at getting out of the straps. DC2 hated the vibration function. DC1 used to rip off the toy bar and throw it on the floor.

I had two velcro babies, wanted to be held all the time, hated being put down anywhere other than me.

Unfortunately you won’t know whether your baby would like a bouncer or not until they are born but don’t spend a fortune because they will grow out of it very quickly and you’ll be selling be selling it on FB or sticking it up in the loft for the next one.

You don't really need to have any baby bouncer at all, so it might just be worth having a think about your lifestyle (I know it's hard to imagine how things will change when the baby is there) and the layout of your house, and consider what you actually want to use the bouncer for. I had one of those fisher price vibrating ones that turns into a toddler rocking chair, which someone gave me for free on facebook. It was quite handy for popping DS1 into for a few minutes when we were doing something in the kitchen, but we could have lived without it.

What we did find really useful was the tripp trapp newborn set, which was a little reclined baby seat (no bouncing) you could attach to the top of the tripp trapp chair. That's because we have a dog and it was good to have somewhere to put the baby down that wasn't on the floor. Also it meant we didn't have to hold the baby the whole time we were eating, but he was still the right height to be involved in family mealtimes before he was old enough to sit in a highchair.

The baby swings with all the bells and whistles are not really suitable for naps so I guess they're a nice thing to have if your baby likes all the features, but as a PP says, you won't know if they do or not till they're here.

@BarnacleBeasley Thank you so much - that’s really true, probably a good idea to wait and see what sort of baby we have! Thanks! 😊
