Newborn high-chair worth it?

Hi there - we are expecting in March and trying to navigate what's worth purchasing / splurging on and what's not....

I really like the sound of having a newborn able to be in an elevated position next to us at the table, or perhaps when I'm cooking etc (so am drawn to product like the Bugaboo Giraffe, Stokke Steps and Tripp Trapp as they have the newborn chairs) - BUT they are so so expensive.

I know there are cheaper (i.e. more plastic) options that I've seen - I think Maxi Cosi and Cosatto do them too all for between £100-£150, however we have a REALLY small flat and realistically will have no where to hide these, so will be out on show all day/every day for the next X years....

Two things -

(A) Is having the elevated chair worth it in people's opinions at newborn stage - if not - what do you do with them when you're eating cooking etc? And if yes.....

(B) Is anyone aware of anything stylish / not so plasticky that sits somewhere in between the £150 and £500 price points for a newborn option (the cost of everything by the time you bundle all the bugaboo / stokke bits together)???

Honestly - the idea of spending £500 for a high chair is madness!

I've a 3 and 1 year old. Our biggest mistake was buying an 'expensive' (circa £120) high chair that was fabric. Yes it's machine washable, but do you want to have to wash it 3 times a day when you start weaning? They get food on everything, they throw up etc.

In the end I sold it and got the ikea £15 one. It's plastic and ugly yes. But it's all plastic so it was just a spray with anti bac after each meal and wiped down. Easy.

In terms of cooking / eating. Our babies were always just in a bouncer by us although they both had a knack for crying the minute we sat down with a hot meal lol. Save your money towards something worthwhile!

I know you have just said you've decided but this is the one we bought. We have dogs so it was ideal to keep PFB off the floor and near me in the kitchen and at meal times and just generally.

It goes from birth to 12 (not sure how much use a 12 yr old would get) my son is nearly 3 now and we have it set up as a booster seat at the kitchen table and then he has the little table in the living room and he does colouring/play doh/playing on it too.

We got it on a black friday sale for £125 from one of the baby supplies site as that was cheaper than directly from tutti bambini
