Highchairs and baby seats

Grandparent looking for a good sized high chair.

Can anyone suggest a decent sized folding high chair for occasional use please? A lot of the seats don't seem very wide and I'd like to be sure it won't be too tight for an already not small grandchild who only visits occasionally. Any measurements of actual seat width and depth from one you have would be much appreciated.

The IKEA ones are fantastic for this purpose. They don't look that akrge but I've never seen a child of highchair age not fit in one, unless maybe they have a medical condition. They are cheap, easy to clean and store and you can have them with or without the table, just straps (which would be roomier)

Perhaps a booster dining seat might suit better? High chairs are really only suitable for a short time I found as the children were eager to sit at the table with everyone else.

Another vote for the IKEA highchair.
We got rid of the expensive, fancy high chair for our second child and just used the IKEA one. Easy to clean, can pull it up to the table. Excellent item!

IKEA here too. The one with the bells and whistles rusted in the garden because I didn’t have the time or energy to clean it and sell it.
we had an ikea in at home, at both grannies and in my sister’s house and they all got snapped up by friends and relatives when we were done.

Thanks. My understanding of the Ikea ones is that they don't fold away when not in use? Ideally I'd like a folding chair.

We had the cosatto noodle. It fitted both mine until about 2 and then we switched to a booster strapped to a dining chair

Whilst you can't fold the ikea high chair, the legs come off really easily so it is simple to transport and store.

They don’t fold but you can pop the legs off really easily - they use those metal buttons to release the legs from the seat and then you can store the legs separately. Honestly, the folding ones are always an absolute nightmare to clean, with food in all the crevices and stitching. Plus, they still seem to take up loads of room when folded.

Plus, the highchair won’t actually be used for very long so more cost effective.

If your seat is wipable you could try a little booster seat that goes on your chair and the child eats at the table? Even foldable highchairs take up a lot of space. My mum bought a big one and the kids were a mile away from the table when we were having a family meal.

We have one like this www.wayfair.co.uk/Isabelle-and-Max--Darden-Folding-Wooden-High-Chair-TBGU2133-L7230-K~SAFT1022.html which I chose because of how small it folds, but the chair is a good size - my 5yo is big for her age and can still sit in it. Easy to clean too. You might need a cushion for a baby around 6-12m, our cushion was East Coast brand.

I have bought a secondhand Chicco Polly Progress 5 highchair from gumtree . Have found it great . Large seat and tray and very adaptable and can be used for booster seat as they get older.

Booster cushion makes more sense, lasts until primary aged

Thanks everyone. I think I'll have another look at the Ikea one first then work through the other suggestions if that still doesn't work.

IKEA all the way

meets every need and legs come off so very very compact

Agree with pp on the IKEA one - easy to store with the legs off.

Although a booster would probably just be easier?

All of the folding ones I've ever come across (Chicco and wooden ones) have been very cumbersome and harder to clean.

Hi I was just wondering if the tray can be altered closer or further away on this high chair? Thanks 😊

No, it can't, unfortunately. With our first we mainly used it without the tray and pushed it right up to the table, with our second we used the tray more.
