Hello
Looking to get a high chair for our 5 month old and considering the Stokke Tripp Trapp or the Joie Multiply or just the Ikea Antilop!
Is the Stokke really worth the money!???
Any advice please...
I think if I got the Stokke I would also get the Ikea one to take away with us....
or should I just get the Ikea one!?

Hauck brand do a chair very similar to stokke. It was £40 when I bought it 5 years ago and is still going strong. I like it because it fits at our dining table like a regular chair and means our daughter has always been a part of mealtime. Antilop is great as it it's cheap and easy clean, but it takes up a fair bit of floor space.

I love our Tripp Trapp. Looks great, easy to clean and will last years as it works as a slightly raised chair at the table. We used to have the IKEA one everyone raves about which was fine, but they're just different products.

I chose not to get the Tripp Trapp after I saw that YouTube video of the chair tipping over backwards. I know you can buy plastic gliders to extend the legs and stabilise the chair, but imo it shouldn't be necessary to stick tatty bits of plastic on an expensive wooden chair - it should just be designed correctly in the first place!

I didn't buy the Antilop due to the lack of a footrest. Apparently it's tricky to learn fine motor skills if you're unstable with unsupported feet. I can't imagine trying to do something fiddly with my leg s swinging free.

The new Ikea chair is slightly better in that it has a footrest, but it's non adjustable and my baby's feet don't reach it so he is still unsupported. I'm still looking for a safe adjustable chair. Currently considering Phil and Ted or perhaps the Evomove Nomi.

They're fantastic but I got one second hand due half the price I'd look into that option.

I've got the asda one (Bebe?) like the Ikea antilop but with two spaces for the footrest (my 3months old fits in it) and straps over the top. It can be used as a small junior chair too.

My PIL bought us the Stokke one when DS was born, and he’s still using it six years later. Love that he’s always been able to sit at the table with us at the right height, and it’s not too much faff to take apparent to clean it properly and/or change the seat height. The light wood finish fits in well with the rest of our kitchen chairs.

We had the moulder plastic baby seat when he was small, then once he grew out of that we used a cheap third party harness until he was big enough not to bother.

The Hauck one looks a good substitute - I might have considered that instead if I was footing the bill. The Stokke one is a bit prettier, but not three times prettier!

Stokke

We have it. Bought for £40 second hand.
DS sits to the table with us. It looks nice.

We have the antilop at grandmas. It’s great. But starting to be a bit snug, and he’s still far too small for a normal dining chair

The stokke is expensive but I know of 12 year olds who are still using theirs as desk chairs so good value in the long run. I like them because the baby is sat at the table with everyone else, although you can take the tray off the antilop and use it in the same way. The antilop is way easier to keep clean than the stokke. The stokke is easy to wipe clean but there are a lot of slots and joins where you get a build up of grot over time.

We have two Tripp traps and they are brilliant- though they were bought for us so I didn't have to pay. If money not an issue go for it.

We have the antilop at my grandmothers house and it is good too- easy to clean, properly upright (unlike others I have seen) and long lasting. The legs are annoying as they are a big trip hazard sonit might depend where you are putting it.

We still use our Tripp Trapps and the kids are 10 & 8!
