Read our round up of the best highchairs for babies and toddlers.

Booster seat that hooks over the chair. Do you know what I am talking about?

It is like a little mini wooden chair, that sits on the normal adult chair and hooks over the back. Then has straps to hold baby in place.

I have used them several times in a couple of different cafes for DS, and he really sits well in them. I asked the waitress today. She did not know where they got them from and the owner was not around to ask.

I can't find it on google but am still looking (having a brain fart wrt what to search for!)

just looking there. Once postage is paid it is really not that much cheaper tbh.

DH said he is prepared to spend it, as we bought 2/3 with DD as she stopped using them/not suitable/crap/broke.

I just worry that we buy this and this is also crap after all, maybe it is just novelty that means he is using it? But he said still all through breakfast, and was calm. And at home he prefers to sit in DDs plain booster seat, that his highchair but it has no straps in it and it is plain plastic, so i think he does prefer to eat at the table with us now

(he is 15 months, almost).

And there doesn't appear to be any generic versions that I can see online. I can't beleive the cafe spent that much there, they have 4 of them and it is a small place (but, it is by the sea and there are lots of boaty types so it does really well, maybe they did?! Hmm

where do you live? i have an old one you can have for £25 if you can pick up (Twickenham)

oooggs · 22/02/2011 18:54

Hi Pav - can't believe that ds is 14 mths Shock where does the time go????

those handysitts are fab and have used them before - hope you find a reasonablly cheap one!

amidaiwish · 22/02/2011 18:54

there is a generic one by LITAF, i will try and find it online and post a link

p.s. the one i am selling also has a travel bag i paid £20 for and never used, but the seat is an older version with just a lap belt, not a 5 point harness, but was fine for DD.

suzikettles · 22/02/2011 18:55

I have seen a plastic one before. Will go and google.

amidaiwish · 22/02/2011 18:55

These booster alternatives?
Someone gave us one of the Polar Gear type ones - ds used it for a bit... i do remember ds and dd having a 'no highchair' phase at around that age, but they went back in for a bit.

£80 is expensive

What about this one?

suzikettles · 22/02/2011 19:00

amidaiwish got there first Grin. I think that's the one I found when I was trying to find a handysitt equivalent.

Ds ended up just using his Antilop until he moved onto sitting on a cushion though, so that saved us even more..

amidaiwish · 22/02/2011 19:01

the babymoov one Adair linked to looks really good...

PavlovtheCat · 22/02/2011 19:18

amid that is very kind of you, but I am not in London, shame! I am in Devon.

I will check out the generic one too thank you!

I would love him to sit in his highchair for longer but he can hook his arms under and wiggle out and stand up now! I hope it is a game which he grows out of but DD never did!

adair the tripptrapp is good value though, if you can afford it as it lasts from baby to older child, where this will only do from now on (although I didn't buy the highchair, it is on loan so no outlay there this time).

we have one of those polar gear type seats actually, maybe I should try it. DD never enjoyed it. But then, she did not like anything that restricted her!

that litaf one looks ok, shame it is not to pretty though Wink but more reasonably priced.

I will give the padded seat thingy (polar gear type) a go, if no good might get that one. As much as I like the wooden one, we have a decent booster seat for when he no longer needs straps so it is not going to be used for a huge amount of time.
