ADOPT A GRANNY!

Hello everyone - I would love to have the opportunity to give either a child or children the chance to enjoy the relationship of having a granny in their lives. So many children don't have this blessing. I am already a granny to a lovely baby girl and the relationship we already have is second to none - I would love the chance to extend this to another child or children who aren't so fortunate.

I am 55 years old, recently widowed, but have so much love and fun to give! Whether it's making home-made playdough, painting, going for walks or outings, watching films together, picnics, playing with make-up, playing car games, Lego, the list is endless - there's so much fun to be had!

Obviously checks and references would be necessary and I would be happy to provide anything that would help in this way. We have to keep everything safe and secure for babies and children in today's World. I worked in the Care Sector for many years, have three grown-up children of my own, so I have vast experience raising children and of course now as a granny too!

I live in Fareham, Hampshire and have loads of time on my hands now and would love to hear from any parents who aren't in the fortunate position of having parents themselves and would like to "adopt" me as a granny to their child or children. I would be happy to provide any information required. I don't mind if the grandchild or grandchildren are babies, toddlers or children of any age, my heart and home is open to them all!

Please give my message some thought - there isn't enough fun and love in the World today and hopefully I can make a small difference there. I am not ready to hang up my knitting yet, nor do I wear wrinkly Nora Batty type stockings, I am full of fun and love life, love music and generally have the philosophy that each day is a blessing and there to be enjoyed!

Hope to hear from any interested parents soon!

What a lovely idea :)

LaurieFairyCake · 12/05/2014 16:06

Lovely idea

Can you adopt me (aged 43, likes cake)?

therealeasterbunny · 12/05/2014 16:17

You sound lovely! If you lived nearer then I am sure my son would love you, are you willing to relocate a few hundred miles?! Wink

LibbyXe · 12/05/2014 16:55

Thank you so much! :) I hope there are some families out there near me who need a granny, I would love to be an asset to the parents too! Grannies and Grandads are so important to a child's life and if I can make a small difference just being there and being "Granny", nothing would make me happier! :)

I too love cakes and having fun making them in the kitchen! Cupcakes, sponge cakes, making lots of icing, getting in a mess is such fun with little ones and older children too! Making cookies too! Boys and girls love it just the same and of course eating the end product too! :)

I wish I could move hundreds of miles away but I have my own children here and my little granddaughter - I hope there are children, babies too who need a Granny near me! :)

I love this idea, but I am too far away from Fareham. I wish I had known about you when I lived in the UK, also in Hampshire. You sound lovely, and oooh the fun we could have had at Marwell Grin

Good luck in your search!

The fact that my wonderful, funny, amazing DS 9 doesn't have any grandparents really leaves a huge hole for me. I felt very sad tonight watching Mary Portas when one of her OAP builders fluffed the hair of a little boy with a lovely gnarled hand. Bit of a trigger for a soppy devil like me. Blush

If anyone is reading this and a little more adventurous then there is always an opening for some visits to Switzerland for a granny.....

WallyBantersJunkBox · 19/06/2014 21:54

Sorry Libby rereading I wasn't referring to you not being adventurous! You are very much so for embarking on this.....

I want to adopt you, but I'm too far way. Do you have a twin in north Liverpool area?

Flumpy2012 · 03/12/2014 22:15

Hello,
Not sure if this thread is still going but we'd love to adopt a nan :)

We're in Oxfordshire with one daughter age 2! Hoping for more. She is amazing, loves animals and just life in general, such a happy little girl :)
We are really missing the older generation in our lives x

beabea81 · 19/03/2015 17:24

I'd love to adopt you if we lived nearer, we're in Kent, I've always had a little daydream about meeting a lovely grandma / mum figure for me as well! Can we start a mn scheme?! X

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 23/08/2015 00:39

I am sure this used to be a 'thing' a few years ago.
My ds and dd would love a local granny, as well as my distant parents.
My mum and dad are both great with dcs, but live several hours away...

Ds wants to help by mowing lawns
Dd wants to help make cakes

Lndnmummy · 22/10/2015 16:13

Not sure if anyone is looking still but my lovely ds would love a granny. We are abit lonely at the moment and having a granny in our lives would mean the world to us both.

ilovemyelectricblanket · 02/01/2016 20:46

We would LOVE to adopt you LibbyXe!
But we live 1.5 hours away from you in East Sussex!?!
Too far for you.... (crosses fingers that its not)!
x

Libby, we live in Portsmouth (Drayton, so top of the city) and I have been wishing and hoping for an adopt a granny for a long time now. This has just been in dreamland so far as I didn't know where to start looking!

I have two little girls, age 2.5 and the youngest turning one year at the end of the month. They are funny, lively, smiley girls who are the best of friends.

As much as I have tried and tried with my own mum to get her to show some interest in my beautiful little girls, she simply is not interested. She drives past my house twice a week and despite repeatedly inviting her to come in, she always comes up with an excuse not to :-( she is missing out so much on them growing up. She only sees them if I take them to her, never asks about them, doesn't have or want a single photo of them, and last year didn't even get my youngest a Christmas gift, literally not a thing :-(

My husband is in the Navy so I'm on my own with them a lot of the time. They are missing out on having a nanny ( my nan was absolutely amazing but sadly died 6 years ago so never met my two)

We love days out to the park, Staunton, longleat, Paultons Park, and baking cakes, everything to do with peppa pig, singing, dancing, and crayoning.

You sound like our ideal adopt a granny!!!
