Ds is a very bright boy, he would have achieved top marks in the year 6 sats as he's more than a few years ahead, however, I recieved his school report yesterday and his teacher has said that he appears to be coasting in several areas and doing the minimum he can get away with doing. He has the potential do do alot more and is underperforming. He's due to move to a highly academic secondary school in September (he spent 1 hour revising for the entrance exam), is it possible to turn this around?

The results are not out yet. The teacher has written that he's extremely gifted and would have achieved top marks, he was achieving top level 5's (5C?) in the practice papers that he did at his old school a few years ago. He's been coasting for a while, homework has been a chore since he left his first school, he doesn't like doing projects, he prefers to have something every day

I'm pleased about that but I'm not 100% sure he will be. He's been 'underperforming' for a while. He will do the homework that is expected but if it's a research/write about/project then it really will be the bare minimum half page. I think I need to be a bit stricter with him.

I hope so. He's not been recieving regular homework at the moment, it's once a week (if that). He went through a term without having any homework at all so it's hard for him to get the routine back.

How's your hayfever?

That sounds good! I wish I could sleep in the living room sometimes, it's so cool. I hate the summer, it's too hot/hayfever/flies/sunburnt people. Yuk! There's air conditioning in the hospital so it's quite nice being at work.

That's really good. They don't offer this at ds's school. They don't do alot at ds's school but hey ho.

Ds has just found out his arch rival from an old school is going to the High, this will get him going, the boy thinks he's better then everyone else and gets so wound up when ds beats him, poor lad.
