Hi all

Iggy Juniors
DD age 8 has signed up for this on the recommendation of school. Its our first foray into this type of thing as despite yearly reports saying she is "exceeding all expectaions" and her always being top or nearly top in literacy/numeracy groups etc school seemingly reluctant to confirm or otherwise any G&T as such.

Still thats another story - was really posting to see if anyone elses child is going to be doing it or has done before to compare notes really

Hi Rivvy
I was just wondering how you felt about the courses now they are both finished? DD received her certificate for Chilblains the other day, she got a distinction and her headteacher was very proud as were we It seems the school have taken their OFSTED action to challenge the able children seriously as she came home tonight with a letter about extended literacy groups for yrs 4 and 5 which they have emplyed someone specifically for.

Not yet heard about the plato course, she got a distinction for her work and enjoyed it - after she had finsihed but we have learnt alot about what she struggles with now - constructing her thoughts into an acceptable piece of writing being the main thing

Hi

Glad your daughter did well and her school is starting to do something.

DD loves the courses but they rather opened a can of worms. It's taught her what it feels like to think and use her brain. The trouble is she has now been protesting about school not challenging her.

However school have been brilliant they have agreed to allow her to use da Vinci every day for 20 - 30 mins. They will also let her have 30 mins/week with the sn lady from next term. She will work with her and then set her tasks to complete during normal class time.

The head was very concerned about social aspects and setting dd apart and felt this was the best way to start. She felt I should take each term at a time and not think too far ahead. Very sensible advice but I am already worrying about senior schools.
