I have been trying to get some help for my son for 3 1/2 years now. He is now 5 and has just had an ed phsych consult which has assessed him as having an IQ of 129. His school say that isn't that high, the Ed Psych says this is why I am having so many behavoural issues. Whi is right. Ben has restless sleep syndrome,(he rocks his whole body violently all night) He also has PICA (A condition where children eat non food items, He chews through a school jumper a day) he is extremely frustrated and angry, lashes out. But he is also very sociable, very maginative plays on his own as two people. (Hat on one person, hat off another person). I have had severe PND and I am coming up against the usual (His problems are cos of mum) I am happy to except that if that is true but I know there is something "different" with Ben. He doesn't get when he has done something wrong and genuinely is dumbfounded to be being told off. He will not cry, the control he has is amazing you can see him concentrating to stop himself, he has obsessive ways and is a perfectionist with himself and gets frustrated when he does anything wrong. Can anyone please help cos I don't know where to turn to next and I am scared that my little boy is going to grow up an angry thug.

Sorry to hear you're going thru this. The IQ result is not that high, not that unusual, I mean. I doubt very much that IQ is a factor in what's going on. I hope you & he find the help he needs soon.

I think it used to be that years ago children with an IQ of over 130 were considered 'gifted'.
However, they look at many factors now.
So it sounds like the school and the ed psych might both be right.
Does he get any sort of help with his sleep syndrome?
