Here it means you get to go on an occasional trip to another school to do an activity of some sort.
No real funding behind it as far as I can see, but fine words from govt.
I'm not too bothered about it.

My Ds is Gifted and Talented, we have never had anything 'official' from the school.
He gets taken out of lessons for special problem solving and leadership groups, which he loves.
He has also been on a trip to the Jaguar car factory where he was allowed to program the robots.
This summer he has been invited to a local university for the day for a mathematics course.
He has just turned 10

Enjoy it.

oh thank you.
did you have to register via web or did school organise it all?

Everything is dealt with by the school, you just need to sign permision slips for any putings.
We did not even know why DS was being taken out of lessons until we had to sign a trip slip and spoke to a teacher who explained about it all.

my 6 yr old is goven free reign of the junior library, and does about 2 hrs a week in 1/2 hr chunks on problem-solving, and verbal and non-verbal resoning, and with his maths he is being given yr 5 work, working on fractions and negative numbers. The rest of his class seem to be working on addition and subtraction up to 20. I think a lot of it depends how much the headteacher is willing to put into it. in KS2, in a years time (he's in yr 2 at the moment), the school starts taking the G&T children out to compete in local maths tournaments, chess competitions and science contests.

DS does out for extra maths - which is the only g and t they do at her school. Maths is now her favourite subject, but she says she's bored most of the time at school. Not quite sure what to do about it. I don't want to be pushy, and they have obviously made an effort with the maths. Her writing is very good and she could do with stretching in that direction too, but I don't think it's going to happen.
I am quite proud though, as I am rubbish at maths!
