Maths app/website recommendations for KS3

My 11-year-old DS loves maths and wants to learn more than what he's getting taught in school. Can anyone recommend an app or website that would be suitable for a year 7 child wanting to explore new maths topics? I'm happy to pay for a subscription if needed. He was trying to teach himself matrices last week. He had a look at GCSE Bitesize but it's more suited to revision than to learning.

White Rose maths
Conquer
Maths Watch

I home educate my son and all the above are great. We prefer White Rose as you can buy the workbooks that work alongside the online lessons. But Conquer might suit your son better, it's split into key stages and not year group so it naturally increases in difficulty each topic. The Conquer lessons have online marked questions so no workbooks needed.

Thank you. He did White Rose at primary school but I like the sound of not having workbooks as it's more for interest than education. I find the whole thing very frustrating because I was bored stupid for the first couple of years of high school maths as well. I really hoped that they would be better at stretching higher attaining students by now.

Matrices isn't even on the normal A level specification at least for the AQA exam board but is strangely enough on the AQA Gcse further maths specification.

But that's besides the point the best resource at GCSE for math and science in terms of a revision guide is the CGP books in my opinion.

But otherwise there are plenty of videos on YouTube can just look at the specification, choose a topic and utube it. Then look at past exam questions on that topic on a site like physics math tutor which has the questions nicely organised by topic.

Have you seen parallel by Simon Singh - there is free teaching and problems at different levels. I don’t have personal experience but I’ve seen it recommended on here before and is suitable for year 7.

Have you considered Parallel Maths as suggested by @MoonriseKingdom ?

Posted too soon… does anyone have experience of Parallel Maths Academy? School have invited DS to apply, I have never heard of it. We are away at the moment so struggling to find details on phone but apparently you have to apply for an admission test, no idea of level of difficulty or pass rate. Aimed at yr7.

The Parallel Maths looks excellent. My DS did extra online Maths in year 5 and 6 and he really enjoyed it.

Yes, yes, yes to Parallel.
Also, NRich maths has some fun stuff.

If school don't do it, look at the past papers for the Junior maths challanges.

Chess!!

If you teach yourself the harder topics, you are guaranteeing you will be bored in maths for years. Strongly suggest going sideways, and doing suduko, logic puzzles, nerdle, Rubix cubes and other maths like puzzles to keep him going.

Brilliant.org is also very good. It covers science and computer science too.
