Art talent

My 3 year old is a talented little artist and loves to draw. Her drawings are very realistic. I just wondered if anyone else's children were like this as young kids and continued to enjoy art as they grew up?And what I can do other than provide materials and go to museums with her. She loves looking at books about art too. Thanks!

I was drawing a few years ahead from age 2 and still can draw and really enjoy it. Nobody believed my mum when she told them I'd drawn the pictures and the health visitor asked me to do a demo.

I am a very creative person and it seems to be a very dominant part of me

I can recommend the Lola art boxes - they have 3 or 4 activities in each month all themed and include fact cards about artists and techniques. I am not creative but my 5 year old is, so these have been great at giving ideas about what to do. They provide really good quality materials too.

My ds was extraordinary at drawing when he was 3. I don't think this is just a proud mummy view as his nursery used to display the kids drawings and DC's were displayed at a ratio of about 3:1 to the rest of the class combined. I was convinced he was going to be a great artist.

Anyway, 10 years on and he shows absolutely no interest whatsoever in art. His art teacher tells me he's good, but he just looks distinctly average to me.

I think other interests got in the way. (I'm looking at you, Lego and Minecraft.)
