Really feel I should name change as I am not sure I want to be on this bit of the board BUT felt the need to have a proud mummy moment without felling like I am gloating IYKWIM

DD2 aged 6 has just started yr2 and they ran a few maths tests the other day using SAT papers. She achieved a level 3C

I bumped into her teacher today (I don't normally go to school) and she told me that she will be getting 'extension' lessons in maths.

Is this something to do with a G&T programme??

Congratulations to your DD! That's a very good score at this stage of Y2.

awwww I think that is lovely, Crunchie. Personally I love to hear about children's successes and proud-mummy-moments, it always makes me smile.

Well done mini-Crunchie!

Well done mini crunchie!

Ds1 did SATs papers in Feb when he was in year 1. The school is very cagey about it though - I only knew about it because he told me and then I checked with the teacher on parents' evening! I don't know why it has to be a big secret!!!

christywhisty · 18/10/2007 13:14

My children's primary school never told us anything either, they don't like putting pressure on the children when it comes to SATS. They never tell us the results they get in the optional SATS,infact don't even tell us the children are taking them.

Congratulations little crunchie. I found out yesterday that DD (yr 5) is being given extra maths with 2 others to stretch them. Assume it must be under the g&t programme which they are just bringing into the primary school.

Gobbledispook · 18/10/2007 13:34

Same here - never actually found out how he did!

crunchie · 18/10/2007 19:12

It wasn't an official 'results' thing, it was a comment in the playground. DD2 is struggling a bit as she broke her arm and it knocked her confidence as she hasn't been able to play all the normal games in the playground, so this was fab news. (DOn't worry plaster came off yesterday so she is getting better) But I was so chuffed as she LOVES shcoool and her maths and this just shows it. TBH if it means they are streching her then I am happy as I know I spent years bored at shcool and became distruptive in maths etc as I could simply DO it. She 'gets' numbers in the same way as me. DH and DD1 just don't!!

That's great, well done little crunchie.
Level 3c is really advanced for a 6year old.
