He sounds very bright and you're doing all you can. I think one year ahead is about the most that's sensible to do. 2 years and it's too socially divisive. He has other special needs too I think you said. One of my sister's twins is fairly off the scale on some academdic tests and also .. well we don't know but a bit quirky. She's going to try to get him into a very academdic school when he turns 7 next year if he passes the exam and hope they are used to dealing with so many eccentric but clever boys he will fit in reasonably well and they can try to sort out his other issues too which actually in life terms are probably more important, getting on with other children etc.

Thrird class is the same as yr 4 here I think if memory serves me.

NoNoNoNo · 29/05/2007 14:05

If he's 8.5, he's only a little on the young side for third class, isn't he? So he's not madly young for his class now.

the biggest problem I see with moving him up again is what age he'll be coming out of secondary, and starting work or college. At that rate, even assuming transition year, if he skips another year he'll be only 17, which is definitely on the young side. And if he doesn't do transition year, he could be starting college at 16, which is way young, imnsho

Aha! I heard someone was getting arsey about G&T! Well MY dd is G&T, so take that, little miss jealous pants!!

Rhubarb · 30/05/2007 22:47

My dd - see pic on profile - speaks far more words than other children her age and seems to be much brighter than others too. You can tell just by looking at her that she is special. I am rightly proud!
