Is this normal for a 15mo?

We are starting to wonder whether DS might be gifted.

He is 15mo. He was an early talker (first word at 9mo) and is now forming 4-5 word sentences including words of 30 syllables or more.

He can spell his name using magnetic letters (it's not an "easy" name) and can also form all letters of the alphabet from play-dough when asked. He enjoys using play-dough for sculpture also.

He has a keen ear for music, he particularly enjoys playing his harmonica and is beginning to play rudimentary blues on it

He of course loves art and some of his work is astounding - reminiscent perhaps of early Hockney

Does this sound gifted? If so what should we be doing to develop his talents

He's 15 months. Develop his talents by playing with him and having fun.

Words of 30+ syllables Hmm

Rudimentary blues Grin

LetThereBeCupcakes · 08/10/2014 16:48

Play doh is not recommended for under 2s. YABU.

RoganJosh · 08/10/2014 16:49

Sounds normal to me. Possibly a little delayed compared to my two.

SanityClause · 08/10/2014 16:50

What do you mean "early Hockney"?

A 15mo Hockney, perhaps?

longest · 08/10/2014 16:50

You had me until "rudimentary blues" Smile

dashoflime · 08/10/2014 16:51

I think latent talent in the blues can be developed by visiting a cross roads at midnight. HTH

Only1scoop · 08/10/2014 16:52

Without a doubt ....how's his Latin Grin

Sootgremlin · 08/10/2014 17:09

He sounds perfectly normal to me. Just enjoy him.

You say his name isn't 'easy'. Not Wolfgang Amadeus?

I think you are in the wrong section of Mn. By Mn standards he is way behind...

Worriedandlost · 09/10/2014 22:45

Sounds promising but too early to say for sure.

Worriedandlost · 09/10/2014 22:49

Btw, even Richard or William is not an "easy" name to spell for 15mo. Doesn't need to be named Wolfgang Amadeus

I found that my 2 year old really took to Mandarin and Greek classes, though was most comfortable in Punic.

Wow. That does sound gifted.

Sootgremlin · 09/10/2014 23:21

Well, erm quite.

If I'd taken a stab with "William" the Mozart joke I was going for wouldn't have quite come through, though. Perhaps it didn't anyway Grin

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 09/10/2014 23:27

Hockney? How banal and derivative. My DCs are currently homaging Di Chirico and the Dada Movement

BackToTheFuschia · 09/10/2014 23:37

Rudimentary blues. Do get a grip.

var123 · 10/10/2014 12:12

I was trying to think what 30 syllable words there are in the English language.

Then I realized there is dadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadada... and googoogoogoogoogoogoogoogoogoo...

Very impressive!
